Opus Communication provides services of Website Design & Development with latest technologies and features.

A set of related pages typically served from a single web domain is known as Website.

World has become a global village. Everyone is interacting each other through internet. Today’s marketing phenomena is to build audience through internet and television. Companies try to achieve their goal of marketing through online and offline mediums. But online mediums are far better than offline.

Companies build their websites for their marketing as well as to interact one-one and one-many through this. Website is the whole package which contains each and every bit of information related to company and product.

Some of the major benefits of websites for marketing purpose are given below:

To Generate Traffic

We provide search engine key phrases research and guidance on how you can perform ongoing additional research. The research leads to recommendations for pages on website.

Email Marketing

The website is the landing page of every marketing Email. It is also a vehicle for new subscriber. Orbit provides the Email that matches the style of your website. Additionally, we incorporate a strategically placed email sign-up field onto your website, encouraging visitors to subscribe to your email list.

Website is designed to be more specific about the company and product for the customer, viewer or user.

Social Interaction

There’s a conversation happening relevant to your industry, and some of that conversation can happen on your website. Including social media provides the social proof that makes a brand look credible and turns a marketing website into an online networking tool.

Your website is an essential tool in your marketing strategy. It helps new customers find you and advertises what you can offer. You can use it to keep existing customers informed, improve your customer care and offer online sales through an e-commerce website. It reaches consumers and businesses nationally and internationally – and it can do all of this very cost-effectively.

The design of your website should relate your business image and brand identity.

It may be good to go for more advanced and complex websites but do remember that you are making your website to achieve your goals. Besides this a website should be easy to access and it should contain proper information to impress the customer.

Building and launching of website is just the start. You then need to make sure that it works properly and is regularly updated. Out-of-date content, slow page loading and technical hitches are deeply frustrating for visitors and they will simply click away.

You can promote your website by giving ads and by using your website address at the end of your TVC’s, posters, billboards and by giving it during your shows etc. So that people can easily go to your home page to find the data of their interest.

It is much easier, cheaper and time saving formula for marketing as well as for customers.

We at Opus believe that following steps are important in making website efficient.

Update your Website on regular basis.

Now a day’s most of the websites are CMS (Content Management System) and it is easy for the user to update the content regularly. It takes time to update daily or weekly, but we can think about that time as an investment. If you updates it regularly, your client or customer will know that the user in the backend is active. It also helps in search engine ranking.

Use Social Media platforms

We can use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc to promote the website. We can make posts on Facebook or Twitter related to the website and link those posts to the website so in that way we are transferring our audience from social media to the website.

Unique Content

It is important that the content on our website must be unique and mistake free. We have to make sure that there is no old information (i.e. old employee or old contact information) in the website. There should be a proper content writer for the website which makes a difference on the website content.

Don’t put everything important at Home Page

If we put everything on the homepage then the other pages or tabs are useless. It is recommended that we should put few things on homepage. User will get confused with too much data on homepage. All pages equally important in latest websites.

Add Blogs Section

If you have a blog on an external website or on your own website, make sure you keep it updated. People who loves to get update from latest news or technology will be interested in the blog section. Blogs also help in ranking the website in Search engines.

Websites or web applications require two types of developers i.e. Front End Developer and Back-end Developer. We at Opus Communication believe that both developers play an important role in the development of a website.

Difference between Back-end and Front end

Suppose a website is a car. There are a lot of things inside a car that help it accelerate, make it speed up, slow down. You can’t see these things but they are very important. That is back-end.

There are things that you directly use in the car to make it go like your gas and brake pedals, the steering wheel etc. All the things you can directly touch, see or hear is the front end.

Why Back-end Developer?

Back-end development adds utility to the front end development. The back-end is a combination of a database and an application written in a server-side language, all run on a web server. This server-side application directly interacts with the database via an application programming interface (API), which pulls, saves, or changes data. The data is returned and converted into front-end code a user interacts with like filling a form, creating a profile, shopping online, etc. In general, anything you see on a site is made possible by back-end code that user cannot see but is powered by a server. Back-end developers create and maintain the entire back-end. The back-end developer takes front end code and gives it working functionality. Back-end developers use an array of programming languages and frameworks when building server-side software. Some of the languages which they use are Ruby, Java, C++, C, C#, Python, PHP etc.

Opus has seen a lot of queries regarding people coming and asking why is it that their website links are not showing in the Google search engine? Opus Communication thought to enlighten the people regarding Google new SEO policy which has affected many companies in Pakistan as mobile users market has become quite significant over the past few years. First question that you should ask yourself; Do you have a mobile or responsive site? If not, after April 21 you may find it harder to rank in Google’s mobile search results.

Google announced algorithm updates that will have a “significant impact” on mobile search results worldwide for mobile searchers. The update improves rankings for sites that provide a mobile-friendly experience to searchers on mobile devices, and, by association, demotes sites that do not.

In addition, the algorithm is applied worldwide, page by page, on a real-time basis. “Worldwide” means that the algorithm update affects mobile searchers and search results in all countries at the same time, rather than just rolling out in the U.S. first.

“Page by page” means that each page’s mobile friendliness is judged separately. That’s good news if your ecommerce catalog is mobile friendly but your forums or other content sections are not. The unfriendly sections will not cause your entire site to be ranked as unfriendly.

“Real time” means that you can expect to see the mobile ranking benefit of making your site mobile friendly right away. The next time Googlebot crawls your pages and determines that they are newly mobile friendly, the mobile-friendly ranking algorithm would kick in for those pages. This is especially good news because some algorithm updates have been processed on a monthly or unknown time cycle and applied to the algorithm in batches.

Beware, though, because real time also works both ways. If an update were made to your site that makes pages unfriendly, the mobile-friendly ranking algorithm would kick in for those pages the next time your site is crawled.

In addition, content from indexed Android apps can now be ranked in search results for searchers who are signed in to Google and have that Android app installed on their mobile device. Since Google would have no access to Apple’s iTunes database, iOS apps would not be included in this app ranking improvement.

Google’s stated goal is to improve searcher experience. It’s frustrating to search on a phone and land on a page that’s so tiny you can’t accurately click the links without pinching and zooming and scrolling to find the right text or links.

Google is converting that frustration into an improvement in its search results, so that more mobile searchers will land on sites with positive mobile experiences. It makes sense from the searcher’s perspective, which is what matters to Google.

But from an ecommerce perspective, it could possibly be a very costly update in terms of lost mobile traffic and revenue.

Example of Mobile impact

Say you use your smartphone to search for “formal dresses.” Starting April 21, the results on your smartphone have been reordered based on the relative mobile friendliness of the sites.

Keep in mind that the mobile search result is probably personalized in some way. Your mobile search results may vary. The important thing to note is that the first, second, and fifth organic search results are already deemed “Mobile-friendly,” as I have highlighted above.

Google has already been annotating mobile-friendly pages for searchers, in an effort to help influence mobile searchers toward a better mobile experience.

From April 21, the annotation has become part of the ranking algorithm, affecting the order of search results directly. In Google’s words, the change will have a “significant impact” on search results for mobile searchers.

Impact on Your Ecommerce Performance

First, determine if Google sees your pages as mobile friendly. It doesn’t matter if you think they’re mobile friendly or your agency tells you that they are. What matters is what Google determines algorithmically because it has 100 percent control over how your site ranks.

Opus Communication provides services of Website Design & Development with latest technologies and features. There is no doubt that Responsive Web Design is very important for today’s web design point of view.

Smartphone and tablet adoption rapidly increases, so does the importance of mobile-friendly websites. Smartphones and tablets have changed the approach toward design and user experience. Before the spread of mobile devices with advanced web-browsing capability, web designers had only one primary challenge to deal with keeping the same look and feel of their websites. However, interacting with websites on smartphones and tablets is not the same as doing that on a desktop computer monitors. Factors such as Click versus Touch, Screen-size, Pixel-resolution, support for Adobe’s Flash technology, optimized markup and many more have become crucial while creating websites with Responsive Design.

If SEO is a core component of your digital marketing strategy, having a mobile–friendly website is becoming essential. Mobile sales have already overtaken desktop sales, and mobile Internet usage is predicted to overtake desktop internet usage by 2014. It is only logical that mobile search will overtake desktop search at some point in the near future as well.

What is Responsive Web Design?

Responsive Web Design (RWD) is an approach of laying-out and coding a website such that the website provides an optimal viewing experience — ease of reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling — across a wide range of devices (from desktop computer monitors to mobile phones).

The designer creating a Responsive Design should ensure that the website’s navigation elements, screen-layouts, text, images, audio/video players and other UI elements re-adjust themselves on a variety of devices. Thus, one need not spend extra time and money in creating and maintaining one “mobile-site version” and another “desktop-site version” of her website.
Now, having understood what is Responsive Web Design, let us check the advantages and why Responsive Design is important while creating websites.

Advantages of Responsive Design

Super Flexible

Responsive web design sites are fluid, meaning the content moves freely across all screen resolutions and all devices. Both the grids and the images are fluid. Just as a liquid spreads out or draws in to allow its content to fill an allotted space and retain its appearance, responsive web design’s fluidity achieves the same result with website content on a device screen.

Excellent User Experience

While, content is king and discover ability of content are foremost success metrics, it is the user experience that enables visitors to consume content on any website through the device of their choice and preference, anytime. Thus, responsive web design is about providing the optimal user experience irrespective of whether they use a desktop computer, a smartphone, a tablet or a smart-TV. Responsive web design accommodates the busy professional during the day and the wide-awake college student needing access to your site anytime. No scrolling or resizing is needed for any visitor to access your website from their favorite device

Cost Effective

The advantages of having a single site that conforms to the need of all devices are significant when compared to having two separate websites. One website costs less than two, and the savings can be substantial. Sites designed solely for mobile device traffic don’t offer the advanced navigational techniques found in traditional websites, and they also require the user to maintain two separate web addresses for your site. This is inconvenient for most people and can cause them to check out the competition’s website. Responsive web design enhances SEO efforts by having all your visitors directed to a single site no matter what they prefer to use as a device.

It is Recommended By Google

With 67 percent search market share, when Google speaks, search marketers listen. Google states that responsive web design is its recommended mobile configuration, and even goes so far as to refer to responsive web design as the industry best practice.

This is because responsive design sites have one URL and the same HTML, regardless of device, which makes it easier and more efficient for Google to crawl, index, and organize content. Contrast this with a separate mobile site which has a different URL and different HTML than its desktop counterpart, requiring Google to crawl and index multiple versions of the same site.

Additionally, Google prefers responsive web design because content that lives on one website and one URL is much easier for users to share, interact with, and link to than content that lives on a separate mobile site. Take for example a mobile user who shares content from a mobile site with a friend on Facebook who then accesses that content using a desktop, which results in that user viewing a stripped down mobile site on their desktop. This creates a less than optimal user-experience, and because of the large emphasis Google is now placing on user-experience as a ranking factor, this is essential to take into account with regards to SEO.

Very Easy to manage

Having a separate desktop and mobile site requires having separate SEO campaigns. Managing one site and one SEO campaign is far easier than managing two sites and two SEO campaigns. This is a key advantage a responsive website has over a separate mobile site. That being said, there are benefits to having a mobile-specific SEO strategy, such as optimizing for keywords that are more likely to be searched when someone is on their smartphone. For example, someone performing a mobile search for a local restaurant may be more inclined to use the word “nearby” in their search query. However, a separate mobile site is not a requirement for a mobile SEO strategy, and there’s no reason why mobile-specific keywords can’t be incorporated into a responsive design site as well.

Web Design is one of our strongest potentials at Opus Communication. Our design agency has been providing the most successful business websites following the cutting-edge trends in web-design. This article highlights these trends for the ongoing year. I hope it will be very informative for the designers.

Every year, Web design grows and so many awesome things are being published daily. In this blog, we’ll boil down some of the most prominent web design trends emerging in 2015. It is here that we can find true innovation and new opportunities – a few of which may completely change our understanding of a “modern website”.

1. Websites give a cinematic and storytelling experience

“Make it big” seems to be the single most important principle of web design today. Yet for many people, it’s hardly acceptable that the homepage – specifically above the fold – consists of just a few words overlaid on an image or a video. Sometimes, even the navigation is removed or (at the very least) is hidden as a small icon.

The two flavors of this web design trend can be labeled as “Cinematic” and “Book Cover”. The first has been inspired by movies and TV ads, while the second enhances the classic concept of printed book and catalogue covers.

2. Creative navigations replace traditional navigations

One thing you might have noticed while looking at the examples of cinematic and storytelling sites is how some are straying from the traditional top navigation bar. User-experience is shifting from a clear hierarchical navigation to a rich user experience with the use of full-screen photographs, videos, interactive elements and animation.

Website navigations usually consist of links set in a menu bar with the viewer clicking through, and scrolling down each page. Now, we are seeing very sophisticated navigations — main menus are being reduced, sometimes disappearing completely or sliding behind screen edges.

3. Websites incorporate parallax effects

When there is really no story to tell, some websites choose to imitate camera movement with parallax effect. Parallax creates an illusion of depth by making elements (layers) of a web page move at different speeds as viewers scroll.

I’ll give an example to help visualize this: When you are driving, the trees surrounding the road seem to move by your car quicker than say, a house you’re coming up on in the distance. Simulating this visual effect on a monitor screen provides for an engaging user experience. This effect has been known for some time, but is being used more and more in web designs.

4. Typographic Styles

Swiss design style, or the International Typographic Style, has been inspiring designers since the 1950s. Swiss design style features typography as the primary design element, and favors sans-serif typefaces, grids and asymmetrical layouts. Fathers of this style focused on simplicity, legibility and objectivity.

Recently, this style has shined in a new light with Windows 8 interface release. This idea of using grids and grid-based typography is gaining even more attention.

5. Scrolling Trends

It hasn’t gone unnoticed that most new site designs published today tend to be longer in length when scrolling through the page. As mobile devices become more popular, it’s becoming more commonplace for sites to opt for scrolling instead of linking as a means to display content, especially on their home pages.

6. Fix width centered site layout

Most websites over the last few years have used the “banding” or width: 100 percent design element so that things like images and sections visually stretch the complete width of a browser’s viewport. Before this trend became popular, most sites were fix-width and centered in the page. You could tell where the site ended on either side.

7. Hidden Main Menus

Much like flyout/slideout menus, I anticipate seeing more sites hiding their main menus all together when visitors first visit the site. These hidden menus will only become visible when the visitor is ready to move on and clicks the appropriate icon.
